The Northwest School is one of Seattle's most urban schools, perched high on historic First Hill overlooking Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains and the diverse residents of this vibrant city. Built in 1905, our building is a National Historic Landmark. The building itself provides an independent atmosphere for boys and girls from all over the world to learn in our classrooms, make friends in our dormitories and play on our sports courts or nearby recreation fields.

During the regular academic year, we provide integrated college preparatory program for grades 6-12, balancing academics, arts, athletics and global studies. During the summer we provide a unique opportunity for domestic and international students alike to have a truly cross-cultural experience taking academic, athletic, arts, and college prep together in an accepting community which celebrates the diversity of its members.

Summer campers must make their own arrangement for transportation. However, if requested in writing, we will provide a ride to and from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for $100 each way. Requests for airport pick-up or drop-off should be made in writing by June 16th. If we receive requests later than that date then we will do our best to meet the needs of families but cannot guarantee that the Camp can transport the student to and/or from the airport.

Families may decide to have their camper take Metro Transit. For information on schedules, bus passes and ticket books, call Metro Transit at 206-553-3000 or visit Metro's website at metro.kingcounty.gov/.

The Camp provides everything needed for classes, except cameras for photography, head phones for digital music and appropriate clothing for the sports classes. Other than these items, campers won't need anything except, perhaps, for some personal spending money.

You should bring casual and comfortable clothes like shorts, jeans, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts, rain wear, light jacket, comfortable and athletic clothing and shoes, personal hygiene needs, towels, wash cloths, book bag or day pack, and an alarm clock.

The Camp provides bedding and laundry facilities but campers do their own laundry. Please note that The Northwest School can not assume responsibility for camper's personal items.

The Camp provides lunch everyday. The Camp has a renowned cafeteria staffed by professional chefs and cooks. In fact, lunch is always a global event. We enjoy a wonderful menu adapted from various world cuisines. There is always a vegetarian selection and salad bar.

Please note that although we serve peanut butter and jelly at lunch in the cafeteria, the main building and all classroom facilities are nut free. In the dormitory, we will always try our best to accommodate residents with special needs. The dormitory will become as nut free as possible if a member of our dorm community is allergic to nuts.

For campers who may be late or absent, please have an adult call the Camp as soon as possible at 206-816-6080 or 206-819-6229 where you can also leave a message. If you don't reach anyone at those numbers you can always speak to the receptionist at 206-682-7309, but we prefer that you speak to a faculty member live.

If you need to leave early, we will need a written note from an adult with the exact date and time you'll be leaving and the name of who will be picking you up.

During business hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) please call the Summer Offices at 206-816-6080 or 206-819-6229. You may also call the Northwest School Offices at 206-682-7309. After business hours, on weekends and holidays please call 206-819-6229.
