Student Privacy Policy

The Northwest School considers it a legal and moral obligation to protect the identity of students online, in order to ensure that they are not exposed to potentially predatory practices. Therefore, The Northwest School website follows these "best practices":
  1. All students or their work appearing in images must have photo releases signed by parents or guardians on file with the school.

  2. Students appearing in images are never to be named in captions or other accompanying text.

  3. Full student names are not to be used in any "publicly accessible" website where The Northwest School is identified. When mentioned in text, we use only the student's first name and the first initial of the last name (Example: John D.).

  4. It is only through "password protected" websites that we allow a student's full name to be mentioned in print. Even then, we do not allow student images to be identified by name.

While the school cannot prevent parents from posting their own images of student performances and events online, we ask that they follow the above guidelines as an extension of "courtesy and common sense." If you have further questions regarding this policy, please feel free to contact Alan Braun, Assistant Head of School.
